Marma chikitsa is one of the most powerful treatment in ayurveda providing an overall healing experience. Marma means the most vulnerable spots in our body. The are 108 Marma points in our body. Marmas are specific points on the body where the application of pressure induces the flow of vital energy (Prana) along a complex system of subtle channels called (Nadis). Energy and intelligence are generated from Marma points. Of the 108 Marma points 64 are considered as deadly points, as they have the ability to heal or harm the body.
Panchakarma (“Pancha” means five and “karma” means treatment) is done to detoxify the body according to Ayurveda.The five procedures are claimed to eliminate the vitiated Doshas from the body.They are Vamana (Emesis),Virechana (Purgation),Niroohavasti (Decoction enema), Nasya (Instillation of medicine through nostrils), and Anuvasanavasti (Oil enema).Nirooha, Anuvasana and Uttaravasthi form the basic types of Vasti. The term Panchasodhana includes Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Nirooha, and Rakthamoksha (Blood letting).
